Our bodies consist of over 600 muscles. You have no control over most of them or in their growth. The muscles we do have some control over the (voluntary muscles) are the skeletal muscles. In this article we will be sharing our secrets for building skeletal muscle mass fast.
Most people fail in their attempt to build muscle mass fast. When you start out as a beginner small gains are almost certain at first and you may expect these gains to continue. The fact is when your body adjusts to your routine you progress will cease. The usual beginner reaction is to train longer and train more days - this results in over-training and no muscle gain. In some cases of extreme over-training it can result in actual loss of muscle mass.
Everyone has the ability to increase muscle mass. You just need the proper knowledge. You need to know what works
What Are the Secrets To Building Muscle Mass Fast?
Here are a few tips on building muscle mass to get you started:
- Don't train with the same set of exercises week to week. Use variety. It will stop you being bored and also stimulate better muscle growth. For example one week you could do dumbbell press for your chest the next week you could do bench press. You can also try these at various inclines to hit different parts of the chest muscles.
- Have focused intensity on every set. Don't look around the gym or think of other things while performing your sets. Think of the muscle you are working not the weight you are pushing. Feel the muscle. Tensing your muscle at the top of the movement is a good way to get this level of intensity. Also slow it down and really feel the movement and concentrate on good form.
- Use free weights as much as possible and ensure you do bilateral two limb exercises i.e. both hands or both legs moving at the same time. Free weights result in much more compound movements and use multiple muscle groups. It is well known that compound movements such as squats and dead lifts actually make the entire body grow for reasons nobody is quite sure about.
- Keep hydrated through your entire workout. Carry around a water bottle.
- Take your muscles to full fatigue rather than just to failure. This can be achieved faster by increasing repetitions and shortening your rest period between sets. Don't just do the standard 12/10/8 rep. pyramiding. If you can do more than 12 reps. on the light weight then keep going until you can't do any more - go to full fatigue - 20 reps. if you have to.
- Allow enough time to recover before your next session. Remember you don't build muscle in the gym you are actually breaking muscle fibres down in the gym. It's only when you rest that your muscle mass increases. Also if you don't get enough sleep your growth hormone production will be reduced which will further limit your progress. So allow recovery time between sessions and get 8 hours of sleep every night.
To conclude, make sure you set realistic goals. Start conservatively. Building muscle mass takes time. So only increase repetitions and weight as you get stronger. Stay safe and good luck in your quest to building muscle mass fast.
